It was my school culturals. Selections were made by teachers for various roles. I was expecting to get a pivotal role as I scored had scored well in tests. (:P) Teachers used to visit every class and pick students for various characters. I was longing for the crew of teachers to visit my class. I saw them in the corridor, my eyes brightened. I wished them loudly so that I will be noted. One among the teacher asked for a pen. I rushed to her and gave the same. She smiled at me and said thank you. I felt elated and was very sure of being chosen for a prominent role. They kept looking all around and chose students for various roles. But I was not chosen. I was badly disappointed. Before the teachers left the classroom, they read the names of the students and the characters they will portray. I paid no attention. But at last I heard my name, but no character was mapped. I asked the teacher the character name. She told she will let me know later. Curiosity was at its best. I didn’t listen to all other sessions of the day. Just kept thinking about the role I would get. Finally, after a week, rehearsals started. Teacher told me I was the narrator for the play. I was totally shattered. But still I had to accept. I practiced with no interest. I reached the culturals day. All my friends were dressed so well. I was wearing the boring uniform. The day ended and I made my narration. At home, my grandfather praised me for narrating. I yelled at him and told how my fiends got better opportunities. Grandpa placed his hand on my head and said “Did you think of your friends, who didn’t get a chance to be part of the event? Did you realize your presence from start to end while all others were just allotted few minutes?” Something stuck me at that moment. Grandpa went on “Learn to count your elations and not misery. Life will be beautiful”.

I see people drowning themselves with their sad tunes. You think you miss your family? There are people without homes. Missing Mom’s food? People starve for a meal. Hate your work place? Youths are battling for jobs. It’s not that you alone have a sad song. Everyone has. Few of us hum the tune; some of us sing the song; and most of us scream the lyrics. Whenever you have a downfall or you’re at a low key, think of people below you with lesser comforts. At the same time, at your joyous and thriving moments, think of people ahead, who have achieved betterments than you to be inspired. Only then life will experience bliss and balance. Because, the only palms which wipe your tears will be yours. J After all “It’s counting elations and not misery to make life beautiful.”

To every “Diva” I have in my life,

Mother, Sister, Teacher, Cousins, Colleagues and of course My Dear friends.

We are most beautiful entity of nature.

The best ever  entity that is present on the earth is the WOMANHOOD.  On occasion of Women’s day various celebrations and events occur throughout the world. So much is spoken about women empowerment. Some Men respect women, some judge them, some underestimate and of course some harass them. Despite all these, the spirit in turning dreams to reality has never decreased. It is to be accepted that women have come a long way in various aspects of society and family. But still it is not enough for the potential that exists in a female.

It’s widely observed that women are equally, academically strong as men are. After the boom of IT sector, women overshadow men at work places. Added to these, the numbers in politics, army and many other male dominated work places are slowly replaced by women sources. It’s quite satisfying and delightful to see the progress of women. But still it is not spread throughout the globe and there is long way to go to achieve empowerment completely.

As part of recognizing womanhood, why don’t the educational institutions award Certificates separately for women? Girls attended college equal to boys. Study more than them.  Have more fun than them. Present a project better than them. In every aspect girls stand a step ahead of boys in educational institutions, then why is it still a Bachelor’s Degree? As part of recognizing womanhood, why don’t the educational institutions award Certificates separately for women? I wish I was awarded “Spinster of Technology” rather than Bachelor’s of Technology. A complete women revolution should take place to recognize women in every small deed. From Bachelor’s Degrees to Spinster’s Degrees. From Master degrees to Mistress Degrees.  Its high time women are given recognition separately for their own accomplishments rather than clinging onto men’s. Waiting for one such thing to happen and I hope the day is not too far.

At school everyone hated one thing in common. That was exams. A period of 12-14 years, where a student was most judged with the numbers obtained in exams. The one who scores more is the one who is valued more. Despite emphasis and preference given to other talents, still digits in exams stays at first. For instance, when a student is good at singing and scores low in exams, “concentrate in studies. Singing is not gona fetch you ranks. “This will be the advice given to the child. The pressure put on kids who appear for public exams is ruthless as if one cannot survive without those digits obtained in exams. Creating nightmares about college admissions, not getting a good job, no own house and car, no proper life partner and the most worst thing even a trespasser advising to study well and score more. The day results are announced is not a good day for all. For more than 75% of students it’s a day of disappointment. Added to these, gossip of friends and relatives, other parents boasting about the one who topped, parents bashing.. Why all these? Just because of the digits in exams?  The way a child is treated who scores less, pity at its best. The same strategy is followed in college. A grade is set and only with those a student is defined right from his fees to placements.  Everyone is aware that these exam scores alone cannot design one’s life. But it is still not handled properly. This is how digits rule one’s destiny at their teens.

Now the power of digits in adulthood. Greater is the digit of salary, greater is one’s value in the society. In today’s world people score more to earn more. Nightmares created in teens are reflected through digits of adulthood. Only on taking a deeper look the power of digits in one’s destiny is realized. Irony is, one is valued when one’s rank is in single digit and valued when the salary is in multiple digits. It is to be accepted that these play a vital role and are inevitable. But it’s necessary to understand, digits should be valued and, not digits alone should be valued.

People tend to make choices. It’s based on their likes and dislikes. When it’s bound on a like, the choice sounds to be the best for them. Whereas when it‘s bound on a dislike, the choice turns out to be the wrong one. Why such discrimination? Just because you prefer something, it doesn’t mean it’s the best and the rest is worst.

This kind of attitude and approach is common in today’s world. Every man has his own way of making choices and doing things. For instance, let’s take the food habits of a non-vegetarian. A non-vegetarian cuisine contains a wide range of recipes. Each dish consist a variety of ingredients. Chicken, Mutton, Fish, Prawns are some of the common non-vegetarian ingredients.

Two friends plan for a dinner and they go to a restaurant. They both start skimming the menu and call the waiter to order dishes. Unfortunately only Chicken and Vegetarian recipes were available.  One orders a vegetarian dish, while the other a chicken dish. The two men start conversing:

“hey dude.. Why did u go for chicken man? It’s the worst of all non-vegetarian dishes.. Your gona vomit for sure when we exit from here...”

“Ha why do you say that man? Chicken is the widely liked non-veg dish.. you can find specialized eat outs only for chicken and not for any other non-veg item”

“you silly fellow. Am sure your wasting bucks on chicken. You still have a choice. Cancel it and order something delicious”

“Delicious?? You mean to say that chicken has no taste?”

“You have a doubt? It’s the worst tasted”

“Enough.. I just wana eat what I want”

“hooo.. what you wana eat is the worst..”

The other man pushes hard his chair and leaves the restaurant. Two friends end up without dinner and also a rift in their relationship. What actually brought this spat? Was it difference of opinion or one’s choice and preference or one’s attitude on choice? Yes. It was one’s attitude on choice. This is the root cause to many problems. The attitude behind the choice is not “What I eat is right and what you eat wrong”.  But it’s “What I don’t eat is tasteless”. There lies a lot of difference between the meanings of these two phrases.  Just because you don’t do something or you don’t prefer something, it doesn’t mean it’s wrong or bad. When you see people doing something that are out of your lifestyle, kindly don’t conclude it as wrong or bad choice or scope less. This may even sound discouraging and degrading them leading to broken relationships.  Stay confident and happy with your choice and preference but not declaring other’s as wrong.

If you don’t prefer an arts degree it doesn’t mean its scope less.

If a girl’s wedding in neighborhood is a love marriage, do stay with your lips stitched for no gossips. It’s her choice and life. Perhaps she will live more happily than your grand arranged marriage.

If you don’t like Sachin it doesn’t mean he is a poor cricketer.

And to all the developers, just because you belong to development, it doesn’t mean Testing is of low profile. Do remember for every defect we log on a Friday evening,  you will miss a Saturday. :p :p

So, people, kindly stop judging and concluding bad remarks for thing you don’t like and prefer. Remember. Your choice is someone’s dislike. The way you treat your dislike, the same way will be your like treated. Finally remember “Just Because you don’t eat Chicken it doesn’t mean it’s Tasteless”
